ব্রিটবাংলা ডেস্ক : ইস্ট লন্ডনের রমফোর্ডে পুলিশের গুলিতে ৪০ বছর বয়সী এক ব্যক্তির মৃত্যু হয়েছে।
মেট পুলিশ জানিয়েছে, পুলিশের গুলিতে নিহত ব্যক্তি তার নিজের কাছে বন্দুক আছে দাবী করে রমফোর্ডের কলিয়ার রোড এলাকায় ভয়ভীতি দেখাচ্ছিল। এই অভিযোগের প্রেক্ষিতে রোববার ভোর রাত ৪টা ৪৫ মিনিটের দিকে তাকে গুলি করে পুলিশ। ৫টা ১৭ মিনিটের দিকে তাকে মৃত ঘোষনা করা হয়।
বিষয়টি তদন্তের জন্য ইন্ডিপেনডেন্ট অফিস ফর পুলিশ কন্ডাক্ট সংক্ষেপে আইওপিসি’র কাছে হস্তান্তর করেছে মেট পুলিশ। বিষয়টি নিয়ে তদন্ত শুরু হয়েছে বলে নিশ্চিত করেছে আইওপিসি।
A man believed to be in his 40s has been shot dead by police in Romford, east London, Metropolitan Police say.
The victim was said to be making threats in the Collier Row area, claiming he had a gun.
The Met said he was shot by officers at about 04:45 BST and was pronounced dead at 05:17.
The shooting has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) as well as to the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards.
The IOPC confirmed it has launched its own investigation into the fatal shooting.
A spokesman added: “Our investigators have been deployed to the scene and post-incident procedure to begin inquiries.”
London Ambulance Service sent two ambulance crews, two single responders and two incident responders to the scene, while the air ambulance also dispatched a road vehicle in a bid to save the man.
Transport for London says road closures around Collier Row Road, Lodge Lane and Melville Road remain in place.
