ব্রিটবাংলা ডেস্ক : এন্টিসেমিটিজমের অভিযোগে টাওয়ার হ্যামলেটস লেবার পার্টির এক কাউন্সিলরকে দল থেকে বরখাস্ত করা হয়েছে।
ইসরায়েল ওয়ান ইলেভেন হামলা, লন্ডন বোম্বিং এবং প্যারিস হামলা চালিয়েছে বলে দাবী করে নিজের ফেইসবুক একাউন্টে পোস্ট শেয়ার করার অভিযোগে বুধবার টাওয়ার হ্যামলেটস কাউন্সিলের ব্ল্যাকওয়েল এবং কিউবিট ওয়ার্ডের কাউন্সিলর মোহাম্মদ পাপ্পুকে বহিস্কার করে তার বিরুদ্ধে তদন্ত শুরু করেছে লেবারের লন্ডন ন্যাশনাল কমিটি।
কাউন্সিলর পাপ্পু নির্বাহী মেয়র জন বিগসের কেবিনেটে ওভার ভিউ ও স্ক্রুটিনি কমিটির একজন সদস্য এবং গ্র্যান্টস স্ক্রুটিনি উপ কমিটির ভাইস চেয়ারের দায়িত্ব পালন করছিলেন। বুধবার এই দুই কমিটির পদ ত্যাগ করেছেন তিনি।এখন থেকে স্বতন্ত্র কাউন্সিলর হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করবেন কাউন্সিলর পাপ্পু।
নির্বাহী মেয়র জন বিগস এ বিষয়ে তার প্রতিক্রিয়ায় জানিয়েছেন, তিনি মনে করেন এ ধরনের মনোভাব একজন লেবার পার্টির সদস্যের জন্য বেমানান।
এদিকে টাওয়ার হ্যামলেটস লেবারপার্টি জানিয়েছে, যে কোন ধরনের এন্টিসেমিটিজম, বর্ণবাদী বা গোঁড়ামির জায়গা পার্টিতে দেওয়া হবে না।
তবে কাউন্সিলর পাপ্পু কোন ধরনের দলীয় নীতি ভঙ্গ করেছেন কি না, তা তদন্তের মাধ্যমে খোঁজে বের করা হবে বলে জানিয়েছেন দলের এক মুখপত্র।
তবে এ বিষয়ে কাউন্সিলর পাপ্পু কোন মন্তব্য করতে চাননি বলে জানিয়েছ ইস্ট লন্ডন এডভার্টারাইজ।
Councillor Mohammed Pappu, who represents the Blackwall and Cubitt Town ward, shared the posts on social networking website Facebook.
One post shared by the councillor claims Israel had carried out the 9/11, London bombings and the Paris terrorist attacks.
Cllr Pappu was a member of the overview and scrutiny committee as well as vice chair of the grants scrutiny sub-committee.
He resigned from the cabinet posts yesterday.
The national party has suspended Cllr Pappu from the party pending an investigation and he is currently serving as an independent councillor.
Tower Hamlets mayor John Biggs said: “I’m very clear that these views are incompatible with being a Labour Party member.
A spokesman for Tower Hamlets Council added: “Any form of antisemitism, racism or bigotry is completely unacceptable.
“We will thoroughly investigate any alleged breaches of our code of conduct and the standards we expect from councillors.”
“Mohammed Pappu has been suspended from the Party pending investigation.”
Cllr Pappu declined to comment to the Advertiser. #ELA#
