ব্রিটবাংলা রিপোৰ্ট: লন্ডনে বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশনে বিএনপির সমর্থকরা হামলা করেছে।
পূর্ব ঘোষিত কর্মসূচীর অংশ হিসেবে বিপুল সংখ্যক নেতা কর্মীদের উপস্থিতিতে বুধবার দুপুরে বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশনের সামনে যুক্তরাজ্য বিএনপির নির্ধারিত বিক্ষোভ কর্মসূচির এক পর্যায়ে বিএনপি কর্মীরা পুলিশি বাঁধা উপেক্ষা করে হাইকমিশনের ভেতরে প্রবেশ করে বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের ছবি ছিনিয়ে আনে এবং তাতে উত্তেজিত কর্মীরা জুতাদিয়ে আঘাত করতে দেখা গেছে সোসিয়্যাল মিডিয়ায় ভাইরাল হওয়া একটি ভিডিও ফুটেছে।
এসময় কর্মীরা দলীয় শ্লোগান করতে দেখা গেছে। এ সময় অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ মোতায়েন করা হয়। ভিডিও ফুটেজে দেখা গেছে বিএনপি কর্মীরা হাইকমিশনে হামলা কালে কর্তব্যরত
হাইকমিশনের এক কর্মকর্তা আহত হন বলে জানিয়েছে বিভিন্ন সুত্র ৷
হাইকমিশনে পার্সপোট সংক্রান্ত কাজে যাওয়া নাম প্রকাশ না করার শর্তে একজন জানান স্মারকলিপি প্রদানের নাম করে হাইকমিশনে প্রবেশ করে ভাংচুর করেছে।
সাহসিক এঘটনার জন্য বিএনপির নেতৃবৃন্দকে স্বাগত জানিয়ে বক্তব্য রাখতে দেখা যায় ৷
কয়ছর এম আহমদ বলেন হাই কমিশনার পালিয়ে গেছে। ব্রিটিশ পুলিশ হাইকমিশনে প্রবেশ করে হাই কমিশনকে খুজে পায়নি।
তিনিও নেতাকর্মীদের ধন্যবাদ জানান।
বিভিন্ন সূত্রে জানাগেছে পুলিশ বেশ কয়েকজনকে আটক করেছে।
এরমধ্যে স্বেচ্ছাসবেক দলের সভাপতি নাসির আহমদ শাহিনও রয়েছেন।
বাংলাদেশ হাইকমিশনের পক্ষ থেকে উক্ত ঘটনার ব্যাখ্যা দিয়ে ইংরেজীতে একটি বিবৃতি ব্রিটবাংলার নিকট প্রেরণ করা হয়েছে ৷ তাহা হুবুহুবু তুলে দেওয়া হলো
Statement of Bangladesh High Commission London
Today 07 February UK BNP has staged a protest demonstration with about 100 people from 1430 to 1630 hours in front of Bangladesh high commission. Diplomatic Police was informed early and deployed to control the protest rally. The activists in the gathering were very aggressive and arrogant. Initially they have threatened our embassy staffs to beat if they come nearby. 2 of the embassy staffs Sgt Shamim (PA to DA) and Azizur Rahman (PA to MC-NSI) were deployed outside (on the other side of the protesters )to monitor the activities. Without any provocation UK BNP President MA Maleq along with 4/5 activists came forward and specifically referred an embassy officer and threatened to beat him if they find him anytime because he is the main criminal (dalal of AL govt). At that time they have manhandled Mr KM Shamim Reza. At the later stage of the procession with police protection one of them was allowed to come inside HC to hand over the memorandum. While getting inside 10/12 activists entered forcing police and embassy staffs and vandalised chair and Bangobhandhu’s portrait/picture in the conference room. Finally they took the portrait out side and abused it.
Comments: police was reluctant to arrest the protesters which has allowed the protesters to be more aggressive.
Action taken: Diplomatic police was informed earlier on the likely outcome. Local Metropolitan police chief was called and came to high commission to say sorry and assured to arrest the criminals who has manhandled and vandalised inside high commission. They will deploy more police in future. A note verbal is in the process to be forwarded to Diplomatic protocol office narrating the incident with high security concerns.
এদিকে এই ঘটনার বিদেশের মাটিতে দেশের মর্যাদা বিনষ্ট হয়েছে বলে অনেকে ক্ষোভ প্রকাশ করেন ৷
