ব্রিটবাংলা রিপোর্ট : ছুরিকাঘাতে একের পর এত তাজা প্রাণ ঝড়ছে লন্ডনে। চলতি বছর এ পর্যন্ত ২৪টি তাজা প্রাণ কেড়ে নিয়েছে ধারালো ছুরি। এদের বেশির ভাগের বয়স ১৮ বছর কিংবা তার নীচে। গত বছর এই সংখ্যা ছিল ১২।
সর্বশেষ দুদিন আগে ছুরিকাঘাতে প্রাণ হারিয়েছেন ওয়ালথামস্টোর মেধাবী ফুটবলার কাসেম মকরান। তার বয়স ১৮ বছর। তার আগে ১৮ বছরের আরেক ছুরিকাহত কিশোর হাসপাতালে ৩ দিন জীবনের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করে মঙ্গলবার মারা গেছে। সে নর্থ লন্ডনের বাসিন্দা। তার নাম জেসন আইজ্যাকস। সে শিক্ষানবীশ কারপেন্টার ছিল। গত শনিবার রাত সাড়ে ১০টার দিকে বন্ধুদের সঙ্গে বাইরে ছিল আইজ্যাকস। এ সময় নর্থল্টের নিউনহ্যাম ক্লোসে দুটি মোটরবাইক আরোহী তাকে ছুরি দিয়ে হামলা করে। এটা উদ্দেশ্য প্রণোদিত এবং পরিকল্পিত আক্রমণ বলেই মনে করছেন তার পরিবার। গুরুতর আহত আইজ্যাকস মঙ্গলবার হাসপাতালে মারা যান।
আইজ্যাকসের খুনিকে সনাক্ত করে বিচারের মুখোমুখি দাঁড় করাতে তথ্য দিয়ে সহযোগিতার জন্যে ২০ হাজার পাউন্ড পুরস্কার করেছে মেট পুলিশ। অন্যদিকে আইজ্যাকসের পরিবার থেকে নাইফ ক্রাইম বন্ধে আরো কঠোর হওয়ার আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন।
আইজ্যাকস যে স্ট্রীটে মারা গেছেন একই স্ট্রীটে গত এপ্রিলে ১৯ বছর বয়সী আব্দুল্লাহী তারাবী নামে আরেক তরুন ছুরিকাঘাতে নিহত হয়েছিল। সে আইজ্যকসের ঘনিষ্ট বন্ধু ছিল।
আইজ্যাকস হত্যার সঙ্গে সংশ্লিষ্ট সন্দেহে ১৭ বছরের কিশোরকে গ্রেফতারের পর জামিনে মুক্তি দেওয়া হয়েছে। তবে তদন্ত অব্যাহত রেখেছে পুলিশ। তথ্য দিয়ে তদন্তে সহযোগিতার জন্যে মেট পুলিশ ২০ হাজার পাউন্ড পুরস্কারও ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে।
knife crime is ‘out of control’ in London
The family of an 18-year-old apprentice carpenter stabbed to death in an apparently unprovoked attack in north London have said knife crime is “out of control” in the capital.
Jason Isaacs was on a night out with friends in Northolt on Saturday when they were targeted by balaclava-clad attackers on mopeds in a “pre-planned attack”.
The group fled for their lives, but the teenager became separated before being stabbed multiple times with a large knife.
Critically injured, Mr Isaacs was rushed to hospital where he died on Tuesday.
There have been a total of 18 fatal stabbings involving teenagers in London this year.
The Metropolitan Police has announced a £20,000 reward for information that leads to the identification, arrest and prosecution of those responsible for Mr Isaacs’ “truly horrific” death.
In a statement issued with the appeal, the teenager’s family called for more to be done to stop knife crime.
“We feel that knife crime in this area, and in London, is out of control and it must be stopped before another young life is taken, and another family has to suffer what we are suffering now,” they said.
“We need to educate young people early on around the dangers of carrying knives in public places.”
Mr Isaacs is the 23rd teenager to be violently killed in London this year. The 24th was Kacem Mokrane, also 18.
Eighteen of these violent killings were stabbings. The number of teenagers slain in the capital is now double the figure of 12 in the whole of last year.
Mr Isaacs was fatally wounded after being ambushed by a gang on two scooters and stabbed multiple times in what police described as a “pre-planned attack” by youths armed with a large knife.
The assailants returned to their scooters and fled following the attack at 10.30pm on Saturday in Newnham Close – the same street where Mr Isaac’s close friend Abdullahi Tarabi, 19, was stabbed to death in April.
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the attack and bailed pending further investigation.
