Coast Guard starts rescue operation in coastal areas

Desk Report : Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard have started distributing of emergency relief, providing treatment and rescue operation at the cyclone Bulbul hit coastal areas.

They are conducting their activities at Koyra and Gabura areas of Satkhira district with two ships, at Dublar char in Sundarbans with a ship from this morning (Sunday).

Bulbul hit the coast at the Sundarbans, the world’s largest mangrove forest which straddles both Bangladesh and India, and is home to endangered species including the Bengal tiger and the Irrawaddy dolphins.
The mangroves shielded the coast from the storm’s full impact, disaster management officials said adding more than two million people across Bangladesh were relocated to cyclone shelters.
