ব্রিটবাংলা রিপোর্ট : ইস্ট লন্ডনে এসিডের তান্ডব চালানো হয়েছে বৃহস্পতিবার দিবাগত রাতে। রাত প্রায় সাড়ে ১০টা থেকে প্রায় সাড়ে ১১টার ভেতরে ৫টি এসিড হামলা হয়েছে। এসব ঘটনার সঙ্গে সংশ্লিষ্ট সন্দেহে এক কিশোরকে গ্রেফতার করেছে পুলিশ।
ইস্ট লন্ডনের হ্যাকনিতে এক মোটরসাইকেল আরোহীর উপর এসিড নিক্ষেপ করা হয় প্রথম। বৃহস্পতিবার রাত আনুমানিক সাড়ে ১০টার দিকে হ্যাকনি রোডে অপর দুই মটরবাইক আরোহি তার উপর এসিড নিক্ষেপ করা হয় বলে পুলিশ জানিয়েছে। হামলার শিকার ৩২ বছর বয়সী ব্যক্তি বাঙালি বলে জানা গেছে। তাকে হাসতাপালে চিকিৎসা দেওয়া হচ্ছে।
এই ঘটনার পর রাত আনুমানিক ১১টা ৫ মিনিটের দিকে ইস্ট লন্ডনের সর্ডিচে আরো একটি এসিড হামলার ঘটনা ঘটে। সেখানেও দুজন মটরবাইক আরোহি এক পুরুষের মুখ জ্বলসে দিয়েছে। তাকে হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসা দেওয়া হচ্ছে।
এরপর রাত ১১টা ১৮ মিনিটের দিকে ইস্ট লন্ডনের ই- ফাইভ এলাকার ক্যাজানোভা রোডে আরো একটি সমান ঘটনা ঘটে বলে পুলিশ জানিয়েছে। তাকেও হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসা দেওয়া হচ্ছে। এর কিছুক্ষন পরে ১১টা ৩৭ মিনিটে একই এলাকায় আরেক পুরুষের মুখ জ্বলসে দেওয়া হয়েছে। তাকেও হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসা দেওয়া হচ্ছে। দুজন মোটরবাইক আরোহি তার মুখে এসিড নিক্ষেপের পর তার মোটরবাইক নিয়ে পালিয়ে গেছে।
সাড়ে ১০ টা থেকে ১১টা ৩৭ মিনিটের ভেতরে একের পর এক টানা ৪টি এসিড হামলার ফাঁকে রাত আনুমানিক ১০ টা ৪৯ মিনিটে ইজলিংটনে আরেকটি এসিড হামলার ঘটনা ঘটে বলে পুলিশ জানিয়েছে।
টানা ৫ এসিড হামলার পর পুলিশি এক কিশোরকে গ্রেফতার করেছে। তাকে ইস্ট লন্ডনের একটি পুলিশ স্টেশনে জিজ্ঞাসাবাদ করা হচ্ছে। এই পাঁচটি এসিড হামলা প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীদের কাছ থেকে তথ্য জানতে চেয়েছে পুলিশ।
Appeal following acid attacks in east London
Police are appealing for witnesses and information after acid was thrown by suspects on a moped in east London.
Police were called by the London Ambulance Service on Thursday, 13 July at 22:25 hours to Hackney Road junction with Queensbridge Road, E2 to a robbery.
Officers attended and found a 32-year-old man suffering from facial injuries.
The victim had been on a moped when another moped, with two male riders pulled up alongside him. The males threw a corrosive substance in the victim’s face, with one stealing his moped and the other making off on the moped they arrived on.
The man was taken to an east London hospital. His injuries are not being treated as life threatening or life changing.
Following this incident, at 23:05 hours a corrosive substance was reported to have been thrown in the face of a man (no further details) by two males on a moped in Shoreditch High Street, E8.
The victim was taken to hospital and his injuries are not believed life threatening or life changing.
At 23:18 hours police received a call to a similar incident, a robbery in Cazenove Road, E5 where a corrosive substance had been thrown.
Officers attended and found a man suffering from facial injuries. He was taken to an east London hospital. His injuries are described as life-changing. A crime scene remains in place.
A fourth incident, was reported to police at 23:37 hours in Chatsworth Road, E5. A man stated he had been on his moped in traffic when two males on a moped pulled up alongside him and sprayed liquid in his face. They stole his moped and made off.
The victim (no further details) made his way to his home address before contacting police. He was taken to an east London hospital. His injuries are not life threatening and not-life changing
Following the incidents in Hackney, officers were made aware of a similar attack reported in Islington. At 22:49 hours, a man was reported to have had a corrosive substance thrown in his face by two males on a moped in Upper Street junction with Highbury Corner.
He was taken to a north London hospital and we await an update on his condition.
All five incidents are being treated as linked at this time.
A male, in his teens has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and robbery. He is currently in custody at an east London police station.
Enquiries are ongoing and officers from Hackney CID are investigating.
