ব্রিটবাংলা ডেস্ক : ইস্ট লন্ডনে নির্মানাধীন উঁচু বিল্ডিংয়ের ক্রেন থেকে পড়া ইটের প্যালেট চাপায় গুরুতর আহত এক মহিলা হাসপাতালে মৃত্যুর সঙ্গে পান্জা লড়ছেন। মঙ্গলবার সকাল আনুমানিক ৯টা ৩৮ মিনিটের দিকে টাওয়ার হ্যামলেটসের মাইলএন্ডের বার্ডেট রোডে এই ঘটনা ঘটে।
পুলিশ জানিয়েছে, বার্ডেট রোড এবং সেন্ট পলসওয়ে রোড জংশনের কোনায় ( আগে যেখানে পেট্রল পাম্প ছিল) নির্মানাধীন বিল্ডিংয়ের ছাদের উপর ক্রেন ঝুলছে। এই ক্রেন থেকে খুলে নিচে পড়ে যায় ইটের প্যালট। তা এসে পড়ে এই মহিলার উপর। তিনি তখন ফুটপাতের উপর দিয়ে হেঁটে যাচ্ছিলেন। পুলিশ এবং এম্বুলেন্স এসে তাৎক্ষনিকভাবে তাকে হাসপাতালের নিয়ে যায়। তার অবস্থা আশঙ্কাজনক। এই ঘটনায় আরেকজন পুরুষও গুরুতর আহত হয়েছেন বলে জানা গেছে।
আহত মহিলা শ্বেতাঙ্গ বলে জানা গেছে তবে আহত পুরুষের কোন পরিচয় পাওয়া যায়নি। পুলিশ এই ঘটনার তদন্ত করছে।
Woman critical after being ‘hit by falling bricks’
A woman is fighting for her life after being hit with falling bricks from a building site in Mile End.
Police were called at 9.38am to the incident in Burdett Road, at the junction with St Paul’s Way.
The debris reportedly fell from a crane, said a Met spokeswoman.
London Ambulance Service attended and took the woman to an east London hospital in a critical condition.
Her next of kin have been informed.
A second person was also taken to hospital, said an LAS spokesman.
“We sent a number of resources to the scene including an incident response officer, a motorcycle responder, two single responders in cars and two ambulance crews,” he said.
“We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance by car.
“We treated a woman at the scene for serious injuries and took her as a priority to a major trauma centre. We also took a second person to hospital.”
Road closures are in place at the junction while emergency services deal with the incident.
The road is closed in both directions between Pickard Gardens and Agnes Street.
Drivers should expect minor delays.
