ব্রিটবাংলা ডেস্ক : গ্রেটার লন্ডনের ইস্ট সাসেক্সে একই বাড়িতে গুলিবিদ্ধ হয়ে দু মহিলা নিহত হয়েছেন। নিহতদের বয়স ৩২ এবং ৫৩ বছর।
সাসেক্স পুলিশ জানিয়েছে, শুক্রবার আনুমানিক সন্ধ্যা ৭টা ৪৩ মিনিটের দিকে ইস্ট সাসেস্কের সেন্ট লিওনার্দ এলাকার বেক্সহিল রোডের একটি বাড়িতে এই ঘটনা ঘটে।
এ ছাড়া আরো দু মহিলাকে হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে। এর মধ্যে একজন গর্ভবতী। তারা ঘটনার হতবিহ্বলতায় মানুষিকভাবে মারাত্মক আঘাত পেয়েছেন। এদিকে এই ঘটনার এই ঘটনার প্রায় দু ঘন্টা পর ৩৫ বছরের এক পুরুষকে গ্রেফতার করেছে পুলিশ। তার কাছ থেকে একটি আগ্নেয়াস্ত্র উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে বলে সাসেক্স পুলিশ জানিয়েছে।গ্রেফতার ব্যক্তি মহিলাদের পূর্ব পরিচিত বলে পুলিশ জানিয়েছে।
এদিকে হোম সেক্রেটারী এম্বার রোড এক বিবৃতিতে নিহতদের পরিবারের প্রতি সমবেদনা জানিয়েছেন। তিনি হ্যাস্টিং এন্ড রেই নির্বাচনী আসনের এমপি। ঘটনাস্থল তার নির্বাচনী এলাকার ভেতরে।
Two women shot dead at house in East Sussex
Two women have been shot dead at a house in East Sussex, police have said.
Armed officers responded to reports of a shooting in Bexhill Road, St Leonards, at 19:43 GMT on Friday.
Sussex Police said two women, aged 32 and 53, were killed. Two more women – one of whom was pregnant – were taken to hospital suffering from shock.
Two hours later, a 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and a firearm was seized.
Police said the women were known to the arrested man.
Armed police cordoned off roads following the shooting and some families were asked to leave their homes as officers searched for the suspect.
Insp Mark Rosser tweeted about “one of the worst shifts in 25 years” and said the Met Police was called in to help.
The shooting prompted a large police response, with witnesses reporting a number of police vehicles and the force helicopter in the area.
The road was closed and police advised the public to stay indoors.
Home Secretary Amber Rudd, who is also MP for Hastings and Rye, tweeted her sympathy to the family and friends of the victims.
