ব্রিটবাংলা রিপোর্ট : বার্মিংহ্যামে ভয়াবহ গাড়ি দুর্ঘটনায় নিহত ৬ জনের মধ্যে একজনের নাম ও ছবি প্রকাশ করেছে পুলিশ। শনিবার দিবাগত রাত ১টা ১০ মিনিটের দিকে এজবাস্টনের কাছে লি ব্যাঙ্ক মিডলওয়েতে এই দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে। তবে ঘটনাস্থলেই ৫জন মৃত্যুবরণ করেন। ১ জন পরবতীতে মারা যান। নিহতদের মধ্যে একটি ট্যাক্সির দুই যাত্রী এবং ট্যক্সি চালক আছেন। রোববার পুলিশ টেক্সি চালকের ছবি প্রকাশ করে। তার নাম ইমতিয়াজ মাহমুদ। তিনি ৬ সন্তানের জনক বলে পুলিশ জানিয়েছে।
এ ঘটনায় আহত হয়েছেন আরো প্রায় ৩০ জন। রোববার মধ্যরাত ১টা ১০ মিনিটের দিকে/ এজবাস্টনের কাছে লি ব্যাঙ্ক মিডলওয়েতে এই দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে। তবে ঘটনাস্থলেই ৫জন মৃত্যুবরণ করেন। ১ জন পরবতীতে মারা যান। ঘটনার পরপরই প্রায় ৪৫ জন ফায়ার ব্রিগেড অফিসার আসেন। একই সঙ্গে ৫টি এম্বুলেন্স এবং ৩ জন প্যারামেডিকস হতাহতদের সহযোগিতা করেন। দুর্ঘটনায় প্রায় ৬টি গাড়ি খতিগ্রস্থ হয়। দুর্ঘটনার কারণ খতিয়ে দেখতে তদন্ত শুরু করেছে পুলিশ।
First victim named as Imtiaz Mohammed
The first of six victims killed in a “horrific” multi-vehicle crash in Birmingham has been named locally as taxi driver, Imtiaz Mohammed.
The father-of-six and his two passengers all died in the accident on Belgrave Middleway, near Edgbaston, in the early hours of Sunday.
Three men, who were in one of the three cars directly involved, also died. A fourth is critically injured.
Crash investigators are trying to piece together what caused the pile-up.
West Midlands Police has described dealing with the wreckage as “very difficult and upsetting”.
The taxi driver, 33, had five daughters and one son all aged under 15 and was described by his father as a “happy, loving and friendly guy”.
Ikhtiar Mohammed said his “heart sank” when the police knocked on his door at 05:00 GMT and he “knew there was something wrong”.
He said: “I thought to myself, ‘which of my sons is hurt’, I just knew something was seriously wrong.”
The victim’s younger brother, Noorshad Mohammed, said Imtiaz rang his wife just before the crash, to tell her he was on his way home.
The 32-year-old said: “It was his last job of the night. That was the last time she spoke to him.”
The taxi driver’s employer, Castle Cars, said it was “shocked and devastated” to learn of Mr Mohammed’s death.
