ব্রিটবাংলা ডেস্ক : ইস্ট লন্ডনের ইলফোর্ডে ছুরিকাঘাতে এক মহিলার মৃত্যু হয়েছে। মহিলার বয়স ৪৪ বছর। পুলিশ জানিয়েছে, বুধবার সন্ধ্যা ৭টার দিকে নরফোক রোডে তাকে ছুরিকাহত অবস্থায় উদ্ধার করা হয়। পুলিশ এবং এম্বুলেন্স সদস্যরা অনেক চেষ্টা করেও তাকে বাঁচাতে পারেনি। ঘটনাস্থলেই তিনি মৃত্যুবরণ করেন।
শীঘ্রই মহিলার ময়নাতদন্ত করা হবে বলে পুলিশ জানিয়েছে। এদিকে এই ঘটনাকে হত্যাকান্ড বিবেচনায় নিয়ে তদন্ত শুরু করেছে পুলিশ। এ ঘটনার সঙ্গে সংশ্লিস্ট সন্দেহে বৃহস্পতিবার সকালে নিউহ্যামের একটি ঠিকানা থেকে ৪৫ বছর বয়সী এক পুরুষকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছে স্কটল্যান্ড ইয়ার্ড।
Woman stabbed to death in East London
Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman was stabbed in the neck in a suburban street in east London.
The victim, 44, was found with critical injuries on a pavement yards away from a children’s nursery in Norfolk Road, Ilford, at 7.09pm on Wednesday.
Shocked witnesses described how the woman was lying in front of a row of terraced houses with “large gash wounds” to her neck.
Emergency services battled to save her but she was pronounced at the scene.
A 45-year-old man was arrested at an address in Newham on Thursday morning, Scotland Yard said.
The woman was described by the witness as white, with light-coloured hair and a long coat.
Police in Redbridge cordoned off Norfolk Road and Cameron Road while they investigated the incident with colleagues from the Homicide and Major Crime Command.
The woman’s next of kin have since been informed.
A forensics tent was set up at the scene of the killing across the road from a children’s nursery.
